Arizona Termite Specialists – Consumers should exercise caution when seeking termite services in Metro Phoenix Arizona. There are a lot of exterminators who claim to be Arizona Termite Specialists. Unfortunately, many of these claims are nothing more than a nice sounding catch phrase. Termite services in Arizona can generate “fast cash” for small and/or upstart termite companies. Fortunately, Phoenix area residents can rely on Bills Pest Termite Control for termite services.
Not all termites are the same. The Grand Canyon State is home to at least 17 different types. Each species is unique. They have different nesting and infestation habits. Effective treatment methods and products must be tailored to the specific types of this pest. Proper identification is essential to successful eradication.
If you are having a problem with termites or merely suspect one call Arizona’s Termite Experts today. Our services are safe, effective and affordable.
While most of these self-proclaimed “Arizona Termite Specialists” are familiar with the more common types of subterranean termites, few have the experience and/or experience to detect the presence of the less common types of termites. This can spell trouble! Hidden and undetected infestations can continue to damage structures. Using the wrong eradication methods and products can be a waste of money, time and create needless exposure to pesticides.
Bills Pest Termite Control is your hometown Arizona Termite Specialists. Family owned and locally operated we are the experts that have been paving the path to effective termite eradication. For over three generations Bills Pest Termite Control has been the choice of area exterminators when they encounter a pest problem beyond their expertise.
Experienced Arizona Termite Specialists recommend yearly inspections for all Phoenix area homes. Homes with a history of termite problems may need inspections more often. Consumers are best served finding an experience termite exterminator who is familiar with all types of Arizona Wood Destroying Insects. Bills Pest Termite Control provides free yearly inspections.
Termite Treatments should not be cookie-cutter. Just as types of termites and infestations can be different, so can construction. Prior to considering any exterminator service(s) the structure should be thoroughly inspected. Areas of infestation should be noted as well as the type(s) of pests infesting. For ground-based termites understanding the foundation type is critical to prescribing the best treatment service.
Given the nature of termites even using the best termiticides and treatment practices – termites can and will re-infest. This alone makes yearly inspections a no-brainer. Often consumers believe that once the treatment is completed they are go-to-go. This false sense of security can lead to expensive damage repairs. Homes serviced for termites should be inspected at least once a year.
Consumers should be weary of 5 or 10 year warranties. Often companies selling these options are never heard from for yearly inspections until the end of the warranty period. That contact is usually to sell another contract. Consumers are often charged “service fees” during the warranty period if re-infestation occurs.

Free Termite Inspection Mesa Az – Chances are that if you’re reading this you have a concern about termites in Mesa. Your not alone…in fact everyday 100s of homes across the valley come under attack from these little monsters. Even more frightening is that many of these infestations will go undetected for months, years or even decades. Often the first indication of their presence is when a homeowner discovers the resulting damage. Getting a free termite inspection Mesa Az may be the best defense against the micro sized wood eaters.
To the average consumer termites are all the same and they have enormous appetite for the wood holding your home together. While this is partially true…not all termites are the same. In fact Arizona is home to at least 17 different types of these critters. They do share an appetite for cellulose materials (wood, paper etc) but not all will be a threat to your home.
“Termites in Mesa cause more damage than all other disasters combined.”
Termites in Mesa Az come in all sizes, shapes, colors and have unique nesting habits. Your home can be invaded from outside, above ground, below ground, via flight or brought inside hidden within infested wood. Because they are so different effective eradication requires treating the source of infestation, nesting areas and entry points. These variables are different among the species. In other words a treatment that would eliminate one type of these monsters will not work for another type. Effective treatment methods must be specific to the invading species. Getting a free termite inspection Mesa Az from an experienced exterminator can help in properly identifying the invading species.
It can be a major bummer to discover the 100s-1000s of dollars in hard earned money spent on a termite treatment is not working. Unfortunately this scenario plays out everyday across the Valley of the Sun.
Consumers are best served when they find an experienced free termite inspection Mesa Az service before considering any service. A good exterminator can properly identify any and all types of termites invading your home. If no critters are found they can point out conditions around your home that are conducive to future infestation and offers corrective suggestions.
Given the threat that termites can be its understandable when homeowners want to be proactive. Proactive is good. Proactive or preventative treatments are not so good. Spending hard earned money on a preventative type treatment is often a waste of money, needlessly exposes a household to harsh chemicals and can leave a homeowner with a false sense of security.
The best proactive approach is using a free termite inspection Mesa Az service. Experts advise it’s best to inspect any structure for termites at least once a year. This includes structures recently treated, those with a history or located in areas with “high termite activity.”
Yearly inspections can detect a problem and provide ample time to prescribe a custom service specific to the target pest. Additionally, a good inspector can point out conditions around the structure that may attract future infestations. Homeowners spending time and/or funds to correct these conditions is money well spent. Often it may be just enough to keep the critters away. Consumers are best served getting a yearly termite inspection Mesa Az service to check their homes.

Drywood Termite Heat Treatment
Looking for Drywood Termite Heat Treatment services? Let us help! Bills Pest Termite Control is your hometown exterminator and Arizona’s Termite Experts.
Not all termites are the same…in fact Phoenix Arizona is home to at least 17 species including one of the most destructive found in the United States…Western Drywood Termites. When most consumers think of termites they envision little bugs munching away at the wood holding a home together. If left unchecked the home will fall down in short order. In reality those little wood eaters come in all sizes, shapes, colors and types. Other than sharing a common name and an appetite for wood many of these species are night and day different.
The nesting habits of Drywood Termites differ from more common subterranean types in that they live and nest above ground. Most infestations start with a couple of swarmers who burro into exposed wood. The average colony can take 7-10 years before reaching maturity. Up until that time there is usually very little, if any evidence of infestation. Other than during the swarm season drywood termites rarely leave the nest and/or seen by humans. Usually the first signs of infestation are when a homeowner discovers a reoccurring pile of fecal pellets and starts to investigate. Be then the colony is mature and the damaged wood may need replacement.
“No gas, no pesticides and a 100% kill made getting a drywood termite heat treatment a no-brainer.”
Depending upon the severity of the infestation treatment methods can range from simply replacing the infested wood, opening drywall areas and treating, full house (gas) fumigation to heat treatment(s). Each method has advantages and disadvantages depending upon the severity, locations, construction style of the home and surrounding environment. Prior to selecting any treatment method it is best to get a thorough inspection from an exterminator familiar with Arizona’s drywood termites. Often sales people will push one type of treatment for every infestation. Consumers may need to educate themselves and seek multiple evaluations.
In recent years drywood termite heat treatment services have risen to be the top choice for consumers. By raising and maintaining temperatures to 125 degrees for 10 minutes an entire colony can be eradicated. When properly done a drywood termite heat treatment is a one-shot chemical free option to eradication. While there is some prep work required by the homeowner it pales when compared to a fumigation type treatment. Homeowners are not required to vacate overnight or days on end. In fact once the room is cooled down, usually in 10-15 minutes occupants can resume normal activities. Because no gas and/or chemicals are used in heat treatments there is no risk of exposure. In general the cost to the consumer is 20-60% less versus a fumigation treatment.
The downside to both fumigation and heat treatment is there is no residual to prevent a new infestation. Consumers are advised to only consider services that include a warranty so if, and when a new infestation is discovered a new treatment is covered by the guarantee.
Wanna know about Termidor? We can help. Read our Termidor HE Reviews. Recently BASF started a marketing campaign touting a new and better Termidor. The new product has been labeled Termidor HE Copack. Is Termidor HE Copack better, a reinvention of the wheel or a desperate attempt to maintain sales?
Before staring our Termidor HE reviews, it’s important to understand a brief history. Termidor has been on the market since 2000 and with some savvy marketing by chemical giant BASF developed a reputation in the termite control world. In many parts of the country, it is considered the “go-to” product for getting rid of those nasty home invading wood eaters. Even in the Phoenix area “Termidor Fanboys” can be found that will attest it is the best thing since sliced bread and the only way to get rid of termites.
“Same ole’ Termidor with a makeover.”
The active ingredient in any pesticide is what kills the critters. In Termidor the active ingredient is Fipronil. Fipronil can be found in some pesticides and over the counter products used to control ticks and fleas on pets. Fipronil was introduced by Aventis to the US market and approved by the EPA in 1998. Aventis (Termidor) was acquired by Bayer Corp in 2002. Bayer Corp makes and distributes Imidacloprid which is the active ingredient in Premise 75 a favorite termiticide that competes directly with Termidor. As a condition of that sale Bayer Corp was required to divest interests in Fipronil (Termidor) and granted rights to BASF.
The reader’s digest version is the maker of Premise 75 leased the rights to produce and sell Termidor to BASF.
For years BASF did a great job of marketing Termidor, and because they had exclusive rights (via patent), there was no direct competition for Fipronil products. In recent years that has changed. The patent on Fipronil expired opening the door to competitors creating their version of Termidor. New releases hit the market at prices less than half the cost and immediately impacted bottom line numbers at BASF. In response, BASF first announced price cuts and now “a new formulation” called HE Copack.
Phoenix Termidor Treatment
We use Termidor along with some other products for termite control in Phoenix homes. Before using this product, we conducted our testing. Termidor does kill Arizona termites and provides reasonable residual protection. For that matter, every product we have used and tested that was labeled for termites worked. Some products are better than others. In testing and real world use, Termidor seems to fall in the middle of the pack. It has some advantages in the right situation but is not the undisputed “go-to” product when dealing with Arizona termites. In fact, for some species, it is on our “do not use list.”
In reviewing Termidor HE Copack, we find the finished product is still applied at the same strength .06 or .125%, and both contain .8lbs of Fipronil in each gallon used. One small difference is HE has a little less Fipronil (8.73%) than regular Termidor at 9.1%. So it would appear not much changed in this area. Both products (the new HE Copack and regular Termidor) will kill termites in the same manner at the same rate.
Reviewing the label (application instructions) is where most of the changes appear. Instead of applying 4 gallons every 10 feet around your home the exterminator can use only 2 gallons. Is less better?
When drilling holes through your foundation and abutting slabs the exterminator can space the holes a distance of 18 inches instead of 12 inches. Less drilling saves the exterminator time, and materials. For the consumer this could be a good thing except the label tells the exterminator to apply 2 gallons instead of 4 gallons (half the finished product) for every 10 feet. Creating a bigger gap and cutting the amount of chemical in half to cover larger areas could be a recipe for continued infestation. That might work in different parts of the country with moist soil, so much in Arizona’s dry clay soil.
Another change is the exterminator can make smaller trenches when treating a home. This would not be a bad idea except again the exterminator is using less product (2 gallons verse 4 gallons for every 10 feet).
Local exterminators, their sales people, and BASF are promoting HE as the new silver bullet in termite control at a higher cost to consumers. Using Termidor HE Copack appears only to be advantageous to the exterminator allowing services to be completed quicker, with less labor, equipment wear, and termiticide. Aside from that, it should still kill exposed termites. For more information about Termidor HE reviews or Phoenix Termidor treatment services give us a call.

“Arizona is home to at least 17 different types of termites including one of the most destructive found in North America.”
PHOENIX TERMITES SWARMING – Reports from across the Valley indicate the Phoenix termite swarm season has is underway. Native termite (Heterotermes) are Arizona’s most destructive species and generate the bulk of termite treatment calls. Native Arizona termites typically swarm during the monsoon season.
Swarms are typically triggered by a couple days of rain (2-3) and a break in the summer temperatures. Heavy rains loosen our Arizona clay soil making conditions ideal for the termite swarm.
Heterotermes are one of 17 species native termites that can be found across the Sonoran Desert. Physically smaller than other species (5-6 times) and with smaller colonies they cause the bulk of yearly termite damage in Phoenix. If you see a shelter tube hanging from the ceiling inside your home it’s a good bet they are native termites (Heterotermes). Heterotermes tend to nest under concrete foundations and abutting slabs. These locations provide protection from the desert sun/heat and trap much needed moisture. Access to food sources (your home) is made by tunneling through expansion joints and stress cracks. Termite infestations can go undetected for several years, often not discovered until the damage becomes visible.
Homeowners should not panic if/when they discover evidence of a swarm activity. We live in a living desert and termite colonies are everywhere as will be swarm activity. Merely having or seeing swarmers near or around your home does not mean you have an infestation or need a termite treatment. Rather it should be a reminder to get your FREE yearly termite inspection and evaluation.
Termite inspection = Best Defense
The best protection against all types of Arizona termites is a yearly termite inspection. An experienced Phoenix exterminator, familiar with all types of Arizona termites, can detect the signs of infestation and point out conditions around your home that may invite future infestation(s).
Most Phoenix exterminator services agree that every home should be inspected at least once a year, especially homes with a history of termite activity.
Preventative type termite treatment services are not recommended as not all species are the same. Arizona termites can invade from underground, above ground, via flight, or can be imported. Termite treatment services designed to control ground based species provides no protection against infestations from above ground or flight. Termite Inspection Phoenix.

Termite and Pest Control
It usually doesn’t take very long for new Arizona residents to discover the need for a good termite and pest control exterminator. Arizona is home to over 11,000 unique pests and 17 species of termites. Our mild winters, wet monsoon and spring seasons make areas below 4000 feet in elevation (Metro Phoenix) ideal breeding grounds for desert insects.
Desert insects thrive in areas around homes that provide moisture, food sources and protection from the desert sun. Thriving insect populations create competition and often drive insects inside seeking shelter and food. Predator type insects such as scorpions and spiders eventually follow those insects inside creating a dangerous environment. Maintaining an effective pest control service can control outside insect populations and keep critters from nesting inside while minimizing your exposure to harsh chemicals.
How often should I have my home sprayed for bugs?
We are often asked that question or “Why should I spray if I don’t see any bugs?” Maintaining outside insect populations is critical to keeping bugs from invading your home. Residual sprays are effective in providing a protective barrier around your home. Depending upon the outside temperature, rain fall, and exposure to sun light residual sprays can lose their effectiveness within hours of application. So while you may not see “bugs” it’s important to re-apply the protective barrier on a regular basis.
Termite Control – Arizona termites
When it comes to termites, Arizona has a national reputation. Seventeen different species of Arizona termites can attack your home from underground, outside, inside and/or via flight. Protective type termite control treatments are generally ineffective unless you can accurately predict the species of Arizona termites and the area that they will invade your home. The best protection against Arizona termites is to have a yearly inspection by an experienced termite control exterminator familiar with all species of termites in Arizona. A good exterminator can point out areas that are conducive to infestation and provide corrective recommendations.

“Arizona is home to some of the most destructive termites in North America.”
Need termite treatment services? Arizona is home to at least 17 species of termites and has a national reputation when it comes to termite infestations. Not all termites are the same nor should every termite treatment be “cookie cutter” in design. Even better news is that not all of these types of Arizona termites are a threat to your home.
If you have… or suspect termites don’t panic! The first step is to call the termite treatment experts at Bills Termite Control Phoenix. Our experienced inspectors have the experience to detect and identify all species of termites found in Arizona. If termites are found we will provide a detailed diagram of your home pin-pointing areas of infestation along with identifying all types of termites found.
The best defense against is a yearly inspection by an experienced exterminator. Preventative type applications are not usually recommended as termite treatment methods can vary depending upon the species. For example most subterranean species nest underground and treating the soil for these termites has little, if any impact on the airborne (flying termites) species of drywood or dampwood termites. So unless you can accurately predict which species will invade your home (and when) a preventative service can amount to throwing money into the wind.
Termite Treatment Phoenix Az
Even if your home has been recently serviced for termites it’s important to have yearly follow up inspections to ensure the protective barrier is working and that another species of termites has not invaded.
Native species Arizona termites (Heterotermes) and Eastern subterranean termites (Reticulitermes) account for the bulk of termite treatments in Arizona. Both species are subterranean, nest in the soil, and build shelter tubes between their nest and food sources. Native termites are unique to the Sonoran Desert and smaller in size when compared to their Eastern cousins. Native termites are more common at elevations below 4000 feet, build smaller tubes, and usually swarm during the fall monsoon season. Eastern subterranean termites are the dominate termite above 4000 feet, build larger tubes, swarm during the spring rains and are found across the country.
In general service methods for both species are similar. When treating for Native species it’s important to treat all accessible expansion joints, abutting slabs, stress and foundation cracks. Given the smaller physical size, native termites have a unique ability to invade homes via the smallest of entry points. With both species creating a continuous protective barrier around and under your home will provide the best defense against termite damage.
Just as not all termites are the same…not all termiticides are the same. In order to choose the most effective termiticide it’s important to properly identify the type of termite(s), determine the type of treatment, soil type (if necessary), and surrounding environment.

“There are two types of homes in Arizona…those with termites and those that are gonna get termites!”
If your home or business doesn’t already have termites…it’s just a matter of time before they will infest. Most of Arizona was once virgin Arizona desert or farm land with moderate termite pressure. Construction has created moisture sources, shelter from our Arizona heat, and food (the wood in your home). As a result termite populations in Arizona are exploding and the demand for Arizona termite control services is on the increase.
As the homes in Arizona age…the initial protective barrier(s) or pretreatments are wearing out…no longer fending off the hordes of termites waiting to feast on your home or business. Bills Arizona Termite Control recommends that every home in Arizona should be inspected at least once a year for termites. Order your FREE TERMITE INSPECTION today. Termites are destructive, causing major structural damage to homes and commercial buildings across the United States. Yearly estimates of damage run into the billions of dollars. Homes located in Arizona are more likely to see large termite infestations and the resulting damage as termites feed year round (24/7/365) unhampered by cold weather or ground freeze.
Arizona is home to several species of termites and not all infestations should be treated the same. For example treating the soil around a home (standard for treatment for native subterranean termites) has no effect on a termite infestation involving Western Drywood Termites. Most Arizona termite exterminators are only familiar with the more common native species of subterranean termite. These termites are easily detected by the shelter tubes constructed on foundation walls or inside garages.
Detecting other termite species found in Arizona can be difficult for the inexperienced exterminator. An undetected termite infestation can result in structural damage and depreciate the value of your home.
Homeowners in Arizona should have their homes inspected at least once a year by a trained and experience termite inspector. Catching a termite infestation early can save the cost of expensive damage repair and maintain a home’s resale value.
When termites are found it’s important that a complete termite treatment with an effective product be done early in the infestation. Maintaining a continuous protective barrier minimizes the chance(s) of re-infestation, while using an effective termiticide ensures a lasting treatment.
Effectively getting rid of termites in Arizona requires a specialized set of termite skills. Thorough knowledge and experience is required to know where the likeliest entry points are in your home. Many of these entry points are hidden and hard to access.
Arizona Termite control requires specialized equipment most people don’t own. From rotary hammer drills to soil treatment rods, and foamers, this equipment helps termite exterminators find and root out Arizona termites that may elude Arizona homeowners. Typically a service to eliminate and control termite populations involves hundreds of gallons of termiticide injected along and under a home’s foundation, underneath concrete slabs, or within foundation walls. These access points and materials are not readily accessible to the general public. Choosing a good Arizona Termite Control exterminator can be a difficult decision. There are hundreds of termite exterminators in Metro Phoenix alone. Different Arizona termite control companies will offer different treatments and warranties to deal with your Termite issue. In many cases, they should come back to retreat the affected area(s) at no extra charge. Make sure this provision is included in your termite control agreement.
Many liquid termiticides can last for five years or more when properly applied. Not all termiticides are the same…a termiticide that works well in other states may not fare so well in the sandy soil of our Sonoran Desert. The actual length of time these treatments control the termite problem in your home will depend on the thoroughness of the application, the severity of the termite control issue in your area, type of termiticide used, and other conditions. Normally if swarmers are found the year after you have an exterminator come out, it’s because of human error in application and not in failure of the chemicals.
Termiticides are tested thoroughly for any effects they might have on the health of people and animals. Before any chemical can be used, it must be tested and approved by the EPA and the State of Arizona. Rather than focus solely on the price of a termite service Arizona homeowners need to be aware of what termiticide is being applied around their home, how and why.
